Jonathan's Reptiles exists to promote responsible reptile ownership through education, outreach, and community engagement. We provide educational programs, maintain ambassador animals that help us teach proper husbandry, and offer a community forum to help connect reptile owners with new homes when rehoming is necessary.

Most reptiles needing new homes are now rehomed through our Facebook community rather than entering our care. This approach allows more animals to find appropriate homes while enabling Jonathan's Reptiles to focus its resources on education and those few animals that truly require intervention. 

We work around the clock to care for rescued reptiles and appreciate any contribution towards the animals. We gladly accept and greatly appreciate any donations of funds, supplies, reptile food, and other items. Donation receipts can be provided upon request for tax write-offs.

• Care for our educational reptiles that inspire thousands of Alaskans each year. 
• Teach proper reptile husbandry to new keepers. 
• Provide emergency preparedness education for reptile owners. 
• Help connect reptiles with new homes through our community network. 
• Respond to emergency rescue situations when we have the capacity to do so.

Caring for reptiles is a lot of work. If you are interested in volunteering for events, please contact us. Minimum volunteer age is 16. All volunteers need to be comfortable being in close proximity to exotic animals and be able to adhere to safety guidelines. While we appreciate and value additional help, due to the nature of the work, we reserve the right to be selective in our volunteer selection.

One of the best ways to help reduce the number of surrenders at the rescue is to research proper husbandry before committing to a new pet. We can help answer any questions you may have about your research to ensure the best life for your future reptile! A good place to start is the care sheets and manuals provided by Mariah Healey of REPTIFILES.
